He brings to the Charity a knowledge and experience of working with a wide range of young people with varied needs.

Nicola Pledger

Nicky is a co-founder of Climb and has been climbing and mountaineering for as long as she can remember. Her passion for climbing has taken her to many beautiful destinations across the world including Nepal, Patagonia, West America and throughout Europe. Nicky has 18 years experience in working with children and families as a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist and has spent the last 10 years working specifically with young people’s mental health. Climb allows Nicky to join the areas of her life that she feels strongly about; to bring opportunities for all to experience the joy, challenge and self discovery that climbing can offer. Nicky is keen to use the experience that she gains in working with people in this way to develop programmes to reach-out further.

Sarah Mead

Sarah is a Registered Children’s Nurse, and Family and Systemic Psychotherapist, who has been working with children and their families in Guernsey for over 29 years. Sarah is passionate in advocating for equal opportunities for all children and has been involved in local charity work for children for many years, including coaching for the Guernsey Special Gymnastic Club and the former You Can Do It Foundation who took children with special needs on an adventure holiday each year. Whilst not a trained climbing instructor herself, Sarah regards herself as an enthusiastic novice and the highlight of the adventure week for Sarah was always seeing the children, whatever their disability, make it to the top of the climbing wall. The sense of team work and achievement it brought to them was immeasurable.
