Programmes

Here are the programmes we are currently running

Mondays - Adult Inclusive Indoor Climbing

Our adult inclusive indoor climbing sessions run every week during term time and are tailored to the specific needs of the climber. Each climber follows a six week programme to learn how to climb safely independently. We then support the climber in whatever direction they want to take with their climbing. They also become eligible to participate in our Rock Skills courses.

The adult sessions are provided in partnership with the Guernsey Sports Commission.

Tuesdays - Le Murier After School Climbing Club

Every Tuesday we provide instructors and assistants to the teacher led Le Murier After School Climbing Club. This ensures that the students have 1:1 support and get plenty of climbing done!

Communication, Interaction and Autism Service

On certain school days we run regular indoor climbing sessions for the Communication, Interaction and Autism Service. This is in partnership with States Education for students at St Sampsons High School.

Saturdays - Indoor Climbing for Young People

Run in partnership with the Youth Commission for Guernsey & Alderney, this programme is for those in Year 7 and up. We take young people through Levels 1, 2 and 3 of the National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (‘NICAS’) which focuses on teaching them how to climb safely independently.

Bespoke One-Off Sessions

As well as our regular weekly sessions, we also run bespoke one-off sessions on request. These can vary from a one-to-one taster to a number of group sessions. In the past we have run bespoke sessions for Autism Guernsey, Youth Justice, Youth Commission for Guernsey & Alderney, The Sunflower Project, the Complex Health Needs Group, Young Carers, Les Voies School, The Guernsey Sports Commission and the Communication, Interaction and Autism Service.

Please get in touch if you would like us to put together a yummy sandwich of a climbing session for you!

Volunteer Pathway

Our volunteer pathway is for those that would like to use their skills to get more involved with Climb, and is a great way to develop and use the skills you have learned. Once climbers have a certain amount of experience and have been signed off as being safe, they are able to assist in running sessions as a volunteer. Many young people undertake this as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Once young people turn 16 they are then eligible to do their Indoor Climbing Assistant qualification. Every year we bring over an independent assessor to run the training course and assessment. Further details of the qualification are on the Mountain Training website:

We have a number of Indoor Climbing Assistants that have come through this route and both work and volunteer for Climb. It is a great way to be involved and be part of the Climb community.
